    As a student attending Community Youth Development Institute, I am beginning to reach important social and academic goals for my life. I have been attending C.Y.D.I. for two years now after transferring from Chicago Vocational Career Academy (C.V.S.). While CVS had a lot to offer, following the basic requirements for a high school student was furthest from my mind. Instead, popularity was my primary focus, followed by my education.
    Transferring to C.Y.D.I provided me with a new opportunity to reevaluate my goals. The size of the school provides one one one help both with my academics as well as my social progress. Because of the skill based focus, my reading, writing, and math skills are growing towards my ultimate goal of not just getting into college, but actually graduating.
    One of the short term goals I have after I graduate is to attend a local community college. If my skills improve enough over the next few months, CYDI has a program that will actually pay...    less
